Re: Grooming kit
Thank you, Brother Ranulf. I am looking at a Benedictine order for 9/10th century and around 1400 - 1530. I should have made it clear that I am not looking at a personal kit as being owned personally, but referring to hygiene and grooming of the person, so my apologies. I am putting together items t...

Grooming kit
I'm trying to put together a personal grooming kit for monks and am looking for suggestions of where to purchase a medieval ear scoop (am able to find early ones but not circa 1500); a razor (preferably not sharp); and a scrub brush of sorts. I think Sally Pointer's still the person for soap. I'm al...

Re: Monk's 'night shoes' or 'slippers'
Hi Brother Ranulf, I thought that would be the case, although I always hope that there's someone out there who may know the answer. We've been told that the boys at the school here would change into their 'slippers' to go from the school and into church for the services, so this led to wondering if ...

Monk's 'night shoes' or 'slippers'
Does anyone know of surviving examples of monk's 'night shoes' or 'slippers', or is anyone able to point me in the direction of pictures showing these, please?
Thanks,
Julie

Re: Medieval garden tools
Thank you for your help, particularity Brother Ranulf. I've been looking in the Landsberg book, but was hoping there would be someone out there who was supplying this sort of thing. It looks as though I will have to try to find someone to make the items for me, as they have to be English in style. T...

Medieval garden tools
I am certain many of the experts out here will know where I will be able to source gardening implements, please?
The tools are for use in a medieval kitchen garden, so any help with sourcing items or suggestions for things that we may find invaluable would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: A Fruggan (sp)?
Thanks, Grymm and Matt.
Only on here can one enquire about a Fruggan and someone say they may have one at home!
Matt - If you still have your Fruggan, then I would be interested.
Thanks,
Conan (Julie)

A Fruggan (sp)?
I am searching for an image of a (?)Fruggan, a long handled implement to remove hot fire ashes from a medieval oven.
Do any of the great minds on here know of where I can find one - and then find someone to supply it!
Thanks in advance,
Conan (Julie)

Companie of Glaston
With regret and sorrow....we have now folded! We had fun last year, but were left with just two members this year, including myself. Health hasn't been good again, so we have to fold - hence selling off of kit that has hardly been used. I hope to see some of you at the Glastonbury Event at Easter......

Course of 'richis'
Does anyone know what 'richis' are, please? They are on the food list for Michaelmas in 16th C. I thought at first it could mean Roach, but that seems to be Roche. Also - what is difference between a 'full course' or a 'half course'? There is mention of a 'full course of richis', and a 'full course'...

Of Cabbages and things....
I have just managed to get my hands on an allotment, with a group of friends. Part of the condition of use is that we supply vegetables and flowers for display, with the timeframe being 1536 - 1539. I realise it has probably been covered before, but any help with what variety of cabbage and other ve...

Benedictine Abbey
Hi All,
I know this may seem like a cop out, but I urgently need information on what skills would be provided by a female lay person to a Benedictine Abbey. The time period is 1490 - 1520.
I already know about kitchen maids, but need to know about another skill.
Thanks,
Conan.

Chris has expressed a desire for the above in black. This is not for re-enactment purposes but for everyday wear, so authenticity is not a question. Does anyone know where I can track down one of these to fit a 16 year old? I know they are available from the US via the Internet, but would prefer to ...
