Re: Looking for re-enactors in London

P.S. Anyone who plays nice is welcome. We will ask which society you play/have played with when, where and how long ago, but that's for our joint safety. 30 years in the shieldwall teaches you that group politics should have no place when big lumps of steel are being waved about ....

Hi We were talking on Sunday after training and the subject moved on to artillery in the immediate post Viking period (the 1100's) I thought the only known artillery from that time was the periot (sp?) but other people were convinced that by the late 1100's other heavier pieces were in use. I believ...

We are supposed to be having a get-together near Gatwick some time in March, would you like me to post some details when I get them ?

Hastings 2006

Hi For those who don't know it yet, October 14th this year will see the next big re-enactment of the battle of Hastings on the hill in front Battle Abbey. These major events are staged every 5 or 6 years (1984, 1990, 1995 & 2000) and are essentially 'open' events to all who wish to attend provid...

21st October ...........

In commemoration of the day, I offer this poem penned in November 1805: 'Twas noon, when England's gallant fleet The sails of France and Spain discern'd; Or victory or death to meet Each British tar with ardour burn'd. Undaunted Nelson foremost stands- The cause his Country's and his King's When, lo...
