Re: Black Friday Sale anywhere?
Most of the traders that make quality or accurate items do it as a business and we don't make much profit to the point that when you work out an hourly rate its well below the minimum wage. It's better to save up and buy well made and researched gear than buy cheap imported stuff. If you don't alrea...

Re: What was worn when Highland Dress was banned?
RLS based some of his stories on what happened but I wouldn't put much faith in any references to clothing and culture. People did alter clothing but maybe not to avoid the law as the law was difficult to enforce as it was. no police and those who did judge had little faith in the banning order henc...

Re: What was worn when Highland Dress was banned?
As you rightly say Highland clothing and tartan were banned. However overnight people were not going to change their cloths and so for sometime and certainly in the more remote Highlands people continues to wear what they had been wearing for the previous 250 years or so. Before the '45 and after th...

You forgot the colours that can only be made with synthetics and contained within a synthetic poly over spray. The worst I have seen were shoes where the leather had started off as bright green sprayed over white sprayed leather. The shoes were black but when the owner walked through grass the over ...

Re: 2015 Law Commission 'antique' gun proposals
the police inspectorate on the other hand think plod arent doinh enough checks on gun owners Which I tend to agree with. I heard on the news this morning about people being checked for mental health issues. I'm not a doctor but if someone has issues they shouldn't be allowed near a gun. Then there ...

Re: Clarification please
They have been making things up. The SK has dress regs but no mention of style or types of leather. If ECWS has dress regs I've never seen them and they would no doubt be different for the RA and KA. Some regts. in both SK and ECWS have their own dress regs. Some regts. have their own style of footw...
