Re: For Sale; My medieval [14C] style kit

Aye, number 9 the green ones and number 3 which I describe as shoes are both still available The sides of no.3 come up just to cover my ankle bone, so I reckon they're more of a shoe that a boot. No.9; the green boots. the pair in the picture - I'm a wide fitting size 10 and that pair fit me well co...

For Sale; My medieval [14C] style kit

For various reasons I and no.1 son have given up the history presentations we engaged in. Therefore I'm selling off our equipment and the spare/newbie stuff we have. I'm in Northern Ireland so unless you're over my way everything will have to be posted I'll set a price of £2.80 per item ---- but if ...

British Army Headdress, Help Needed

Hi Folks, I require your help. Your knowledge of British Army uniform head dress in particular. I have the barest of information yet I must try and find the period of a certain type of headdress and the type of regiment which wore it. All I have is, it, or the wearers were nicknamed 'button-cap'. I'...

Re: Long Bow Archers' Accuracy?

Reading your replies; thanks again. This question of accuracy is just a point which came up in discussion the other evening. I used to use long bow and was reasonably accurate at 50 yards, but I'm/was very poor compared to others who were in that club [ 4 long bow world & British champions] I do...

Re: Long Bow Archers' Accuracy?

Thanks for those replies. One of my books quotes the 1515 ordnance; ' no less than 11 score yards'. Illustrations in psalters and hour books imply accuracy at the butts was practised. Was it Scotlands' King David who suffered an arrow wound to his mouth?; could that be considered accidental or delib...

Long Bow Archers' Accuracy?

Hi Folks, A simple question; just how accurate could a long bow archer have been in a battle situation? I think it matters not whether the archer is of 14th, 15th or 16th century. I've only just started to look for the answer and this is one of the first places I've turned to in order to glean of yo...
