Plate mail help plz

ok im just starting out with plate mail and i need to know what gauge of steel to use for what parts of a suit (im going later today to pick up the steel), any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know this will make me sound like a noob but, I dont really know what a harness is (im used to chain mail). Yes i was doing it by hand but if i made a winding rig then would i still have to guide the wire with my hand or would it releave the stress off my thumb.

Cost of armour?

I was wondering how much reasonably priced stainless steel greaves vambraces and a great helm (bucket helm), i need about circa 1500 that would go good with chain mail? Also i need the price in canadian dollars if possable. Thanks.
