Living History Trader wins 'Greenest Trader' award 2012

Spotted this in the NMTF magazine - Sally Mittuch who trades as Natural Spa Supplies, selling clay based cleansers and other natural products, has won the 'Greenest Trader Award' for 2012: http://www.fedmedia.co.uk/mt/MarketTimesFebruary2013/index.html#/36/ Lovely to see her and husband Scott being ...

Re: Video to sell on a website

Not re-enactment related but my Brother in law has a part-time business sanding floors in Kent & he swears by his time lapse videos showing him working & the before & after shots - he reckons he gets a lot of business from them. Here's my lovely Brother in law Dave doing his stuff :) htt...

Re: Links and Resource Directory

A useful blog with making instructions for Victorian corsets & Bustles (which I haven't checked but think they'll be of interest to some) but my main reason for putting this here is a useful guide to slip stitching - which I know I've had trouble explaining before: http://historicalsewing.com/tu...

Re: Two markets....

We had a brilliant time trading at TORM and have booked double the space to go back to in March :) Partly so that I don't have to crawl out via Lucy's stall next door, but also because we have a number of projects that we'll have finished and can 'show & tell' about by then, so will need more sp...

Re: Public liability insurance

Thanks for the link & reminder about PLI, & thanks for posting the question - It's helped me realise I could get off my behind & re-organise our insurances - we now have so many for all the different things we get up to I'm sure a friendly broker would put together a package deal for us ...

Re: Advice for a newbie

Hi Sammi - I'm sure people will be along to give you tips on where to start - are you a re-enactor yourself? If you aren't you may find it useful to visit a few multi-period shows and also the two largest trading events where there will be both other costume makers and a lot of visitors and traders ...

Re: Chimera Costumes

I'd check with the organiser, Anne Laverick at TORM that they are trading there before making a special visit, the list of traders isn't updated each show so they may be listed as trading but they still might not be there this time.

Re: Contracts

I know that Tabulae have a contract pro-forma that we could use, but I never have. I think it's different if you are supplying goods i.e catering for an event that commits you to buying lots of stock up front - especially if that is perishable.

Re: How Rude!!!

I don't want to say who makes copies of Jim's pots - that's not my place- but in terms of research - one design that I know of that has flooded the market he re-constructed from just a few shards that were a commission from the museum who owned them He worked out what it was, not from drawings and i...

Re: How Rude!!!

Yes - I'm shocked at how many people rip off Jim the Pot's work - it that case I think it's Emma that has to be stopped from nutting the individuals concerned, and like Jorge says - I won't buy from people who I know have ripped off Jim & his research. I do run courses in medieval tile making an...

Re: How Rude!!!

 @ Jorge :) (As there isn't a 'like' button!) I've had to examine how I feel about this issue very closely. It is an issue I get now & again - sometimes from MOPs, more frequently from re-enactors, but don't get that often. I've had a couple of people who have come & taken close pho...
