Arbroath Abbey Pageant Society
| Arbroath Abbey Pageant Society (formed 1947) recreates the events of the 1320 signing of the Declaration of Arbroath. In the floodlit ruins of the historic Abbey, the cast of over 160 played to over 2000 people over two short runs in 1999 & 2000. Helped by a millenium commision grant, the society re emerged from an exile of 18 years imposed by the loss of all costumes and props in a fire.

Barons Haven Freehold Medieval and Fantasy Themed Resort and EcoVillage.
| It is a large project to build a full scale 13th C style welsh castle, complete with a full sized town, surround fields, forests, wetlands and meadows.
It embraces the flavor of the celtic borderlands and also has several small settings planned to portray historicly related settings such as Yorvik and monasteries. All designed to allow full time habitation by participants.
The plan calls for a fantasy realm that is largely underground and located on the other side of a hill and forest so that it is both close to the historic areas for those that like the fantasy element of medieval belief, yet far enough away not to be seen or heard so it won't intrude on the historic portrayals.
Unlike the defunct legend court this is a well and carefully planned facility not done in a typical theme park style and is designed to be extremely Eco positive across the board.
The project has some excellent endorsements from top scientists, engineers, and themed industry designers from around the world.

Blore Heath Farm
| Because I live there! But seriously, this website introduces the Battle of Blore Heath 1459 and the battlefield as it is today. It is one of the few sites where the terrain had essential military significance and which is virtually unchanged from the time of the battle. Even following public lanes and footpaths a vivid appreciation of why the battle occurred where it did, and with what outcome. A walk down to the Hempmill Brook, scene of many thousand dead, especially at dusk, is an emotional as well as an intellectual experience. Visit our site for an introduction to this politically pointless but militarily interesting battle - the first field battle of the Wars of the Roses.

Lord Thomas Stanley's Retinue
| Lord Thomas Stanley's Retinue has a history and reputation going back many years. The original Household concentrated on the military aspects of the period 1460-190 but in recent years the scope of the group has widened to include full living history, mummers and school lectures.
One of the aims of Thomas Stanley's is to pour water on the idea that re-enactment precludes military prowess and to this end the group trains regularly in order to be able fight competently and safely.
The Retinue is made up from people from all walks of life and boasts several of the finest English armourers as long term members.

Medieval Scotland
| This is a collection of articles and resources aimed at anyone interested in Scotland between A.D. 500 and 1603, from about when the King of Dál Riata moved from Ireland to Argyll to when King James VI of Scotland inherited the English throne. Because medieval Scotland was not isolated from its surroundings in either space or time, there are also some articles concerning related regions and the focus time span is somewhat flexible.
Some of the articles discuss not only what was done in Scotland in the Middle Ages but also how modern people might re-create aspects of medieval Scottish culture. While this may be of direct interest mainly to novelists and historical re-creators (such as those involved with battle re-enactment societies, renaissance fairs, or the SCA), this way of looking at things can also help clarify and illustrate actual medieval practice for anyone.

Regia Anglorum - Anglo Saxon, Viking, Norman and British Living History
| Regia Anglorum was a term used by early English writers to describe the English state. It means 'The Kingdoms of the English'. In a twentieth century context Regia Anglorum is a nationwide society with many independent local groups, from Scotland to the south coast, who all work within a tight set of common sense rules. Regia Anglorum attempts to recreate a cross section of English life around the turn of the first millennium. Our actual self imposed brief is AD950 - 1066, although our events may sometimes be set a few decades either side of these dates. It was a time of great flux and change and, as all our public shows are 'datelined', we can demonstrate the changing fashions of the times. It was a time when Britain was host to many peoples - Anglo-Saxons, Anglo-Danes, Norse, Cymru, Viking raiders and even a number of Norman mercenaries . We are not purely a combat society and have come a long way from the old hack and bash image associated with many re-enactment societies. We are not in fact a 're-enactment' society, but a 'living history society'. Our basic tenet is Authenticity. To this end we will not portray any image, support any ideal, or make any item of kit which we cannot provenance from contemporary sources. Our members invest large sums of money and thousands of man hours getting it right. From our experiences with other superficially similar societies, we are certain that no other society from our period of interest takes this matter so seriously.
