The wessex dark-age society having been around for 30 years plus must be amongst the oldest of reenactment groups! we are an open and friendly bunch 40+ strong.With our oldest member in his 70's and our youngest a wee 9 months, we represent a diverse community with living history displays and battle reenactment.

When forming the wessex founders chose around 800ad as a dateline for us, but over the years we have branched into many periods, now covering from roman britain through to much later!!! We attend events all over the country, alone or in company with other groups, we hold banquets throughout the winter around the wessex region and training sessions/get togethers on a weekly basis both here and with members in london

REENACTMENT

The real success of "wessex" is the familly enviroment where all the famillies and individuals are members of one familly, and that membership of other organizations and groups is not only accepted but encouraged allowing close working relationships with other societys and wealth of knowledge and resources at our disposal.
