Period Games for Re-Enactors

1900s - Stations

I don't think this game is very old, but it is always a good wheeze for drunk and jolly people to play.

Summary: Form all the players in a circle, except one who stands in the middle. Each player needs to be standing next to an object (bag, jacket whatever). The centre players calls out a question, "Who is wearing green". Anybody who can answer yes to the question must run to another players station (ie their object). The centre person runs as well. Whoever fails to get to a station is in the middle next time.

Details:

So, everybody but one forms a nice big circle, everybody has to put something by their station.

Person goes in the middle and calls out a question "Who is wearing green" ("has eaten worms", "kissed a member of the same sex").

If you can answer yes to the question you must run. The middle person asking the question can always run, true or not.

You have to run to an empty station - which means at least one other person must have run as well.

Since there is always a station short, whoever fails to get a station, goes back in the middle again.

For grown-ups bawdy is always good fun, for children bogies and the like go down well. But start with easy ones like clothes, colours and stuff to get them started.
