Sally Pointer is an experimental archaeologist researching a wide range of everyday activities and products from pre-history to the post-medieval period. She has published a series of booklets and is currently working on two full scale studies which combine historical and archaeological research with experimental reconstruction in an attempt to better understand the everyday lives of our ancestors. She also demonstrates a variety of skills and crafts including early soapmaking, cosmetics, herbs and textiles. You can most often find her at Cosmeston Medieval Village on show days. She is also available for film-work and consultation and accepts occasional commissions for accurate costume and accessories.

I can provide professional advice on a range of domestic topics from many periods of history. If I don't have the experience to fully answer your query I may know someone who can and will never offer an answer if I don't understand the topic! I have advised film companies and researchers and can help source suitable extras for projects. I can supply one-off reconstructions of hard to find items such as soap and cosmetics and can also offer a limited costume making service. I am also available to teach sessions on herb-use, perfume manufacture and soap-history. Please feel free to contact me for further information.
