"Lady Jane"

--The movie Lady Jane, is at its best and rendering from historical facts. The movie is about Lady Jane Grey, daughter of Frances Grey and Henry Grey.

At the beginning of the movie, Lady Jane was found by Dr.Feckenham, sitting on the gothic window pane...reading This is not the most surprising thing in the world for anyone. While her parents were out hunting outside, Jane was reading. In real life, Jane is a reader. She had this passion for books that she also shared with Edward and Elizabeth.

As the movie starts off, Jane is seen as a somewhat stubborn child. But as the years passed on, she became more learned and affiliated.

When Edward VI was 16, he suddenly became ill with measles, which, after a while, turned into tuberculosis. John Dudley, Lord Chamberalain that time, feared that if King Edward were to die(which he eventually did), Mary or Elizabeth, the two step sisters of Edward might actually become ruler. John Dudley also thought that if Mary or Elizabeth were to be queen, he might almost certainly lose his high position and even his head.

Dudley then devised a plot for (as obvious as it was in the film) himself and his two other schemers, Frances and Henry. Since Frances was connected to the Royal Line, she could be queen. After all, her parents were dead and so were her two brothers. After some thinking, they decided that Jane could become queen. John was the mostly the one that decided on this, because he knew that he could turn Jane's head around with HIS orders. But along with that, Dudley also wanted his position to become even more higher. So, he convinced Jane's parents to let Jane wed his last unmarried son, Guilford. Jane's parents were skeptical a first. There's even a scene in the movie where Henry Grey asks John Dudley:"Are you sure you're son's the right man for my daughter?". But with much convincing in Dudley's part, Jane's parents agreed.

When Guilford and Jane met, they instantly didn't like each other. Jane thought that Guilford was a man who had no manners and absolutely no charms. Guilford also didn't like Jane in paricular because he found her "a bore" and too well-mannered.

After a while, both moved to their new home. Jane avoided Guilford completely, rather she was with Mrs. Ellen (her taker) and several of the chambermaids. Guilford, however, would wander about the country property.

And even as impossible as it may seem, they did fall in love. Jane was explaining to Guilford about the "new learnings, nature of the sacraments" and their religion, which, he had no interest in knowing about until then.

Well..after that, things wouldn't be the same again. Jane and Guilford were often wandering about the countryside, frolicking along. And servants actually started to wonder about them. First they loathed one another and now, well, they were always together.

But, along with that progress, Dudley's scheme for Jane to be queen was rendering. The King was slowly dying and he hadn't signed the papers to legalize Jane as his heir. But, Dudley forced him into it. He ordered the princesses Mary and Elizabeth to be there when Edward was to sign the documents. Elizabeth, was no where to be found, but Mary journeyed immediately to London. But upon her arival, she was said to be arrested and put in the Tower(this "scene" didn't show or even said about in the movie. However, it is true).

Jane and Guilford, however, were spending a quiet time together one night, when the officers of the court and Sir John Gates went to their home. Jane was to go to the Syon House immediately because they were needed at present. Jane and Guilford went at that minute (or the next morning).

When they arrived, John Dudley announced the death of King Edward VI(this was on announced on July 10, but Edward actually died on July 6. They kept Edward's death a secret for 4 days until they could decide what to look upon to next). Then, he announced that Jane was the heir to the English throne. Jane, obviously, didn't want to become queen. She was forced to walk towards the chair of state and to sit on it. She did so, after much forcing. She was then presented the crown. They placed it on her head, bowed and then, they regailed, saying "Long Live, Queen Jane!".

Jane was only queen for 9 days. In those 9 days that she ruled, she signed documents and retaliated troops around Norfolk and Kent. But in the movie, Jane pre-closed the royal commands and set some on her own. Her documents were about the poor people and her help towards them (NOTE: In real, Jane did not have any contact with the poverty, so she was unable to re-gain these commands and therefore, unable to bring help to the poverty).

But after a much battled troop,John Dudley was arrested for defending Jane's crown when Mary was in London. They caught him and sent him to the tower.

On the 10th day, Jane and Guilford were brought to the Traitors Gate in the Tower. They were both seperated for a while.

Jane visited the new Queen:Mary in the household royal of the Tower. Mary promised that there would be no conditiond whatsoever to let Jane free. Of course... Mary did have the power to reprieve. And I'm pretty sure that she was planning to let Jane and Guilford go...that is, until the insurection of Jane's father.

Henry Grey, furious in learning that Mary was to wed Prince Phillip of Spain, went from Devon to Kent to London...rallied his troops there and led an insurection on Jane's name. At those times, having a Spanish king was unspeakable, especially to the Protestants. But, all went down. Henry was arrested before he could have audience before the Queen.

On February 12, 1554; both Jane and Guilford were beheaded. Jane, just outside the chapel of St.Peter ad Vincular and Gulford beneath Tower Hill.

And after both their deaths, the memory of Jane and Guilford heaved on... and for those who did watch the movie, I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that their souls did take flight...and forever dwells in paradise.
