Crumhorns

Hi all,
Does anyone here play the Crumhorn? Are they suitable for 18th Century? And does anyone have any experience of the Early Music Shop ones?
I play the accordion and whistle already, but am looking for something to expand the periods of music I can play.
thanks
Emma

Crumhorns were only really used in the 16th Century.
It's also debatable whether they were used at all in England outside Court.
The EMS ones are ok - not fantastic, but they work.

Why not go for recorder or flute as you already play the whistle? They're played throughout the centuries, though you'd need different sorts according to whether you were doing Renaissance or Baroque.
