International Living History Fair October 2011

Hi Folks,
Just a reminder to all that the International Living History Fair is rapidly approaching. The dates are the last weekend in October, plus the Friday - thats 12:00 - 18:00 Friday 28th, 10:00 - 17:00 Saturday 29th, and 10:00 - 16:00 on Sunday 30th.
The Fair is being held at our new venue - Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Bath Lane, near Lutterworth, LE17 5QS - don't just type in the postcode to your SatNav - it may not take you to the correct entry point onto the site! We have relocated the Cafe/Restaraunt area to our new "arrivals Lounge" which will be open about 2 hours before the actual show starts, so a breakfast, coffee, and tea will be available for all our keenest visitors. It is also hoped to sell entry tickets from an hour before the gate opens, so no huge queues when you get there.
We have a larger number of traders booked in than last show, and continue to expand both in quality and time period coverage, now going back to Bronze and Iron Age, if not even earlier! There will be several rooms available inside for "break out" areas, as well as better seating and more varied menu choices in the restaraunt area.
There will be lots of news about 2012 Events being run by Pike & Shot Events Limited, as well as opportunities for Living History Interpreters and Re-enactment Groups to talk to us about their own paticular Event provisions to our Event organising team.
Entry fee will be same as February - £4 per adult, £1:50 per child, and Cashpoint Facilities will hopefully be available on site.
Saturday evening there will be a special "Regency/Highwayman dinner" taking place in nearby Lutterworth at an original 18th Century Coaching Inn. This will be a limited ticketed Event, so if you are interested in attending, and making a weekend of it, please mail Dave Allan at events@paste.org.uk for more information.

We'll be there with our cloaks. It says on the website that the list of traders is from the Feb. fair, we aren't listed but we were there. We enjoyed it so much, that we are going to be there again.

I have my forum name the same as my business name, and it's on a small yellow banner on the front of my stall, soooo if you do choose to walk past without saying hello, it will be a choice thing rather than recognition issues... I won't be offended, you may be shy, but it's always nice to put a name to a face ( and then in my case be so tired I recognise your face again in the future, but can never quite remember who you are.

Facilities at the show include hard standing for 3,000 Vehicles, an onsite Bar supplied by Trolls Bottom, an improved Catering outlet with an external arrivals lounge - for those early arrivals with hot drinks, breakfast, and Toilets!

Well, survived a night on the Moor near Naseby, without any visitations from Cromwell & his Ironsides! Although, there were some odd noises from the Medieval fishing ponds just down the road.
Last comment before the show, if any Traders can't find their Car Pass window stickers from the last show, we have spares with the main site entrance. Please try to find the February Pass if you can - or we'll run out & have to revert to a plain coloured sticky spot - perhaps it should be BLACK!

Hi folks,
Initial set up went well yesterday. Unfortunately, Cezary - one of our Traders - called to say he was ill & could not make the trip from Poland this show - please note if you are coming specifically to see him! However, "The Gripping Beast" also from Poland, has now repaired his trailor, and will be at the show - M25 depending!
The "Arrivals Lounge" is looking good, so all our early visitors can enjoy a hot drink & breakfast in the dry, with portaloos for those needing them too!
Doors open today at 12:00hrs, and close at 18:00hrs. We have 119 Traders booked in, and a number of Re-enactment Groups, plus a LARP Event organiser. So what ever you want, hopefully we can fulfill your Christmas "wish" list. There will be Cash Machines available too - just in case you run out of money

Just got back from our first ILHF as traders. We sold Handmade Things to various people, some of them from here. Met others from here and chatted about Handmaking Things and generally had a good time. A big thank you to everyone who bought stuff from us, and especially to P.A.S.T.E. & Co. for organising the event and being so friendly! See you all again in February -don't forget to bring your wallets!

Just got home from the fair! IT ...WAS....AWESOME!

Met some lovely people who managed to recognize me, chatted about MSS to Fiona of Grumpy Charcoal Burner, and spent ALOT! lol. But was so worth it!
Send me to the city for a day and i'll barely see anything to itch me purse.... Send me to a re-enactment fair and it's a case of taping up the purse to stop me from reaching in and handing over mulla! LMAO.

Everyone was SO nice, gave me so much information, was so courteous and helpful and sweet. Gave a few people a hug cus they were so great!

Will be starting my various projects soon enough

Hi folks
I would personally like to thank all those who supported us at the Fair. Once again we had a great show, and 99.99% of our visitors enjoyed the experience. Apologies for those people who wanted a Vegetarian meal on Saturday, as we ran during the day due to the record breaking visitor numbers on the day.
The Exhibition Hall will be upgraded tomorrow (Tuesday), with a brand new floor, and some other improvements to the facilities and building structure.
Plans for the future include an extension, and an additional catering outlet (Drinks, both hot and cold, cakes, sandwiches, snacks, and a new bar) internally to the building, an alteration to the arrivals lounge to provide more tables and seating and move the catering to the end of the facility so we can arrange a better serving area and "flow" for our customers, as well as an upgrade to the preparation area to get rid of the "cooking smells".
The feedback from the improved menu means we can once again improve our choice of food for our customers, and the traders will hopefully be offerred a special "delivery to trade stand" service, to alleviate the time away from the "coal face" during show opening hours.
The "set up" and "tear down" was a little hectic, but we will be fine tuning the arrival and departure strategy for future shows now that we can access both ends of the Exhibition Hall. Thankyou to all our traders for being so patient and understanding during this development phase of this part of the show.
The rebooking went extremely well, so with over 75% of traders benefitting from our discounted renewal rates "on the day", we can look forward to another varied and show on February 24th - 26th 2012! We have a small waiting list of traders who will be contacted today (Monday October 31st) for the opportunity to attend our next fair and trade with us, so please don't take too long in deciding you want to come back as we only have a "finite" space available for next time.
I would also like to thank the Pike And Shot Events team, without which I could not run the show, and hope that everyone who came along this time got back home safe and sound.
Have a great Christmas, and we hope you will pass on to your friends and colleagues that the show is worth coming to, and spread the word - the "International Living History Fair" is growing in popularity, and see you all again in the Spring!

Congratulations PASTE. Good fair. Lady L, notoriously fussy, says "Have you noticed how much the event has gone up?" Lots of spoace to walk around and view stuff on Saturday even though it was busy as people said. Lots of new traders including overseas visitors. Welcome all. High calss kit on sale and very friendly atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the fair, though (god help us) my dad bought yet another helmet, bringing our collection of migration-period helms to 13. Looking forward to TORM aswell.

We went on the Saturday, had an enjoyable day out, caught up with a few traders picked up a couple of things i pre-ordered From Fairbow and Annie the peddlar. Had a good day chatting with members of our group and came home with my wallet a lot lighter, i also went with a list and avoided my normal that looks nice i'll have it way of buying.
