Rapier / c.1781 sword wanted

Hi there, I'm a 1781 Jersey Militiaman (In the channel islands) and I'd like some advice on sourcing an authentic (or as close as possible) sword to accompany my uniform. Has anyone got any advice as to where I could look (Preferably somewhere that does deliveries).

Hi Jeremy,

1781 will give you the 1768 regulations if I remember right (may be different for militia) so O/R and junior NCO's did not cary a sword.

Unless you are doing somthing else/different rank.

The 1768 regulations sayeth this:-

Swords:
All the Serjeants of the regiment, and the whole grenadier company, to
have swords. The Corporals and private men of the battalion companies
(excepting the Regiment of Royal Highlanders) to have no swords.
All the drummers and fifers to have a short sword with a scimitar blade.

the Royal Jersey militia archive lists, should tell you what type of sword ( if any ) the militia would have been issued with.
