Groups in South West?

Postby Senilis Pravus » Sun Jul 31, 2011 6:37 pm

Looking back into re-enactment after a fairly long hiatus.

I'm based in Somerset and would be interested in groups in the area, particularly Migration Era or earlier.
Any suggestions?

Vicus looks interesting - where are they based?

Thanks in advance.

Britannia (who have members all over the place; I'm in North Somerset), cover the early Migration period (early to mid fifth) but there are very few groups portraying later Migration Germanic (Weorod in Hampshire for example).

There's a nice bunch of early medieval Saxon/Viking types in North Somerset called Oskorei, who train in Nailsea on a regular basis, if that's of interest to you?

Thank you - I shall check out Britannia and Oskorei.

Any others?

Other groups in the area and later Saxon/Vike 900/1100, Anglo Norman 1100/1300, 14th cent bunch of chaps and 15th cent groups focused on artillery.

From what you say I'd say Britannia should be the first one to catch up with.
