The Beaufort Companye portrays the personal household of a retainer in the service of the Dukes of Somerset and Beaufort family during the latter half of 15th Century. We aim to bring to the public a vibrant and exciting interpretation of the period our authentic and interactive portrayal late medieval military and civilian life. The Companye puts on a wide range of Living History events throughout the UK from the intimate portrayal of a Lord's Household to tournaments, murder mysteries, castle sieges and, as members of the Wars of the Roses Federation, full scale battle re-enactments incorporating combined archery, infantry, cannon and cavalry displays.
We are a national group with members located throughout the country and are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals and families to portray the civilian and military aspects of the Companye.
We attend the annual battle re-enactments at Azincourt (1415), Towton (1461), Tewkesbury (1471) and Bosworth (1485) and are regularly employed by English Heritage to deliver exemplar medieval interpretation at some of their most important sites including Richmond and Kenilworth Castles, Rievaulx Abbey and their blue riband event “The Festival of History”.
