HISTORIA ORIGINATA

The Swallow Hotel, London Road, Carlisle ~ May 1-2, 2010

THE history and re-enactment trade fair of 2010 : THE one stop kit stop for the summer

A high quality event featuring the best historic traders and set in a historic city with excellent transport links, and hotel-based with special accommodation rates, plus on-site leisure facilities. An ideal way to spend Bank Holiday weekend!

This exciting new event is organised by the successful team behind Scotland’s Festival of History, in association with well-known respected, established historic traders.

This is your chance to be in at the begining of something new, something big - an event targetting re-enactors and museum professionals in northern England, Scotland and Ireland. Scottish and Irish re-enactors in particular don't often manage to make other trade shows because of the distance - now we are offering them one on their doorstep.

There are a limited number of competitively priced pitches available ~ plus good on-site hotel rates so you don't have to travel each night!

Trading inquiries – George Topp at 07920504901, or historiaoriginata@hotmail.co.uk

Public admission - £3 Open 10am – 5pm daily

On site leisure facilities? You mean a castle to besiege?

Bit short notice for this one?
Has it been mentioned somewhere before and I just didn't see?
We usually do Kentwell May that weekend, won't most everyone else be doing some actual reenacting?
Not meaning to urinate on anyone's bonfire, just surprised...

Registrations are still coming in, the event is still 3 months away, and we've only just started taking bookings, but include some of the 'industry's' well known traders.
I'll update this post with a list of the latest traders every so often.

Sorry , I realize I came across as really negative there, North is good, very good, proper North even better- just can't come and play, so sulking ( well you know, sort of )
Best of luck with it though.

The show is looking good, with lots of positive feedback from re-enactors in the north especially.

And the first bookings include Bernie the Bolt, Tillerman Beads, A Piece of History and Ancient Battlecrafts.

The hotel is easy to find and are offering good deals on accommodation compared to normal.

It's also encouraging that re-enactors have been in touch asking if they can stay at the hotel, and get the cut price deal as well.

The answer to that question is yes - so it looks like being a real social weekend too.

There is still some trading space - it's a big hotel - but there are quite a few who have verbally booked but not returned the forms.
Could you please do so ASAP - either by post to the address on the form or to historiaoriginata at hotmail co uk

I'm hoping to be able to post a list of the main traders on here over the weekend.

We have a block of rooms reserved for those wanting to stay in the hotel over the weekend - and take part in Annie's pool party ......................

If you haven't already confirmed room details with me could you also please do so now - the hotel need specific numbers by Monday after which they'll release unreserved rooms back into general release.

And anyone who has now discovered a space in their calendar for May1/2 and wants to trade, and make a break of it in a beautiful area and historic city - please let me know and I'll e-mail you the forms.

** and daisyduke is right - she's not as scary as her mum !!!

Northern Britain's newest "trade" show seems to have caught the interest of groups in the north - groups from across Scotland, the north of England and even Ireland have all shown an interest, and quite a few have decided to make a weekend of it. The hotel has already had a lot of bookings from people going to the show, but who are not traders. The reduced Historia rate for overnight stays (including use of leisure facilities) is available for all.

Amongst traders taking part are -
Bernie the Bolt
A Piece of History
Armourclass
Ancient Battle Crafts
Time Warrior
Tillerman Beads
Gothic Green Oak
House de Clifford
House of Freyja
Roo the Leathercarver
Badgersett Historical
Sarah Thursfield
