Fred

Go and see Kerry at the Freemen of Gwent camp - he knows the area quite well - his family are from around there - and he will be able to point you in the right direction.

He will be at the chippy tonight anyway, as Eleanor and I cannot be there until Sunday.

Ann

Wendy,Buck and Allison say

First off all a big THANK YOU to everyone who came to this event and made it a sucess

It was Paul (HANDSOME = SWB) and Buck, who started this project off.

And at the end of the day if you re-enactors had not turned up, we would not have a show

At present the total collected for Shelter Cymru is up to £1600 but this will increase as money is still coming in.

I would like to write a list of people who i would like to thank but there are too many.

You all came along, put on excellent displays, took part in the battles and helped raise money for a charity that makes you all very special people in my eyes

WELL DONE
MANY THANKS
YOU should all be PROUD of yourselves.

Wendy

With a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Wendy, Buck and Allison for setting up a Great Weekend.

Our site was soggy but surprising how straw helps to stop you sliding everywhere.
It was great meeting up with old friends and making new ones. The group had a great time with the added bonus of the award you presented to us Thank you

Der Windhund enjoyed themselves, and thank the organisers who worker throughout the weekend dealing with everything, above and beyond the call of duty.

Well done Wendy and Buck.

May we also add our humble thanks for the second place certificate for our display, a very nice surprise at the end of a hectic and enjoyable weeknd.

Great to meet at last Mr F/B.... 8)
Very nice display that!!.. And also nice interaction with the public too I noticed...

Serious question, due to the lack of re-enactment events in South Wales, and with Wendy and the gang breaking into new territory...what was the reaction from the public concerning German groups...Favourable?…good feed back?

Or did you get a Tonbridge Wells moment?..(Or Tonbridge Welsh even).. :D

I will try and get some pictures up of the multi-period that was at this event

On the subject of German Re-enactment Groups coming along when we started this show, i stated that i was not willing to rip pages of the history books out

Once you go down this lane you must remember will people be offended by vikings wearing furs, what about multi-period cooking meat on a open fires (rabbit, etc).

As long as you state All Aspects of History Allowed then you covered.

I must point out and say sorry to the German Re-enactors about the 2 gentelmen who payed at the gate to come in. They where met by Buck, myself and Allison after a chat Some of the iteams they where wearing where removed or covered up. They where very understanding and did not want to cause any misunderstanding. I also went around all the German Re-enactment Groups to inform them of there attendance.

We have never had any bad feedback about German Re-enactors or any other re-enactment group on site

Was great to meet Eyemo in person, you are a gentleman of the first order sir.
We were met with initially a bit of surprise (big gun always does that), but we never received any negative comment from the Public at all, we pride ourselves on our interaction with the public, and take active steps towards dispelling many myth's that surrounded the normal German conscripted soldier of the time. We know if we are doing things right if we get lots of questions from the entire spectum of ages present.
The other groups present were also very kind in their praise for our display (groups of all era's), and we were exceptionally happy that we were approached quite early on the Monady morning by some Medieval types who wanted some photo's of them with the German kit
Thanks to all again, a top weekend. Shame nobody has mentioned the Fantasy Battle where G I Joe (the Vietnam chappie) took on a horde of vikings armed only with his entrenching tool, what a guy, he was truly fantastic.

very pleasant to meet you too, F&B, and my vikings thought it was only fair and in character indeed to pick on a man armed with a spade, they simply mistook him for a saxon :D
