Looking through a log of a Dakota it was transferred to 16 FU (RAF) from 1946 - 47. Would anyone know what the designation FU stood for? I assume the U means unit in which case what does the F reprisent.

F stands for Ferry
No 16 Ferry Unit was formed by the merger of No 11 Ferry Unit and No 3 Aircraft Preparation Unit. The task for No 16 FU was to prepare various types of aircraft for overseas services.
