A huge selection of fabrics - they have several sorts of black moire, including silk, which is unobtainable elsewhere. (Pricey for silk moire though!)

Its worth being on the Croft mill mailing list as well, no e-shop but the list periodically has excellent fabrics for our use, though most of no real interest on a day to day basis, I've had some absolutely perfect wools and linens from them over the years. Just a case of keeping your eye open for one of their specials

This guy on ebay is really good.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BRITISH-FABRICS_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm

His fabrics are exactly what he says they are and the quality/price ratio is amazing.

Gonna post a thread about this anyway, but thought I might as well put this in here, as it fits.

Abimelech Hainsworth now have a factory shop. It's just around the corner from the mill, on Town Street in Stanningley, near Leeds.

Not been myself, but Nige went at the weekends, and they have lots of stuff - blankets and assorted other bits, and of course, cloth - from approx. 8.50 - 11.50 incl. vat, according to Nige (serious bargain!!)

Still worth making an appointment with sally or david if buying in bulk, but the prices at the shop are way cheaper although obviously the ranges will be more limited.

have used them now, for something I couldn't find anywhere else. tand looked closer at the site. the range is actually quite limited (far more so than some of the other places listed above), and they're actually quite pricey.

service is nothing special - not a quick as lots of places, but not as slow as some...

Hi

Can be pricey but quality good. I use Ali, Bernie et al for most needs but these guys speciallise in untreated linen/flax. If you need something special, heavy or coarse (maybe for a jack) they have some great stuff (they keep all sorts of grades as they supply for clothing and theatrical/TV/film/museum use). They send swatches in post.

http://www.wolfintextiles.co.uk/

Also picked up some unbleached linen in IKEA this weekend. Not shirt weight but ok for rough stuff (bags, light-use jacks etc). Just £3.69 a metre.

Bang-on historically correct fabrics.

Postby sheepmilker » Fri Mar 14, 2008 4:47 pm

Having seen the frieze coats and things on "Tales from the Green Valley" I'm looking forward to ordering some from Stuart Peachey (OK, have to save up a bit first!).

He's now at http://www.stuart-hmaltd.com

Don''t worry about the remark from Guthrie (below), the link is fine!

So how do I get hold of Stuart peachy? That url from sheepmilker doesn't work. He seems not to have any googleable presence online either, which these days is just silly.

Don't know what's happened to your Google fu Guthrie

Stuart Peachey (note spelling) can be found at http://www.stuart-hmaltd.com or at least when it is working which was last week when I checked up on the price of some pamphlets I am eyeing up.

Next face-to-face trading opportunity will be at Tewkesbury IIRC.

Yes, its not working just now, as I said in my post.
But you're right about the spelling. In order to google someone successfully you have to have the correct name. I've been trying to find someone called Harry Potter, and thats a bit difficult...
(Yes, it is his real name)

Hi
got a swatch from a cloth company back in 2004 but now don't have the details. It was a strange name, something like HE Box or HB Box. Does anyone know who I mean or am I just going mad?

I would suggest it might have been:

H.E. Box Ltd
01305 839123
Unit 5b,
Surrey Close,
Granby Industrial Estate,
Weymouth,
Dorset
DT4 9TY

I saw some swatches of their Melton last week, in an array of surprising colours. Very nice; I found myself wondering what I could possibly use bright purple, or a delicate - but penetrating - lilac melton for.
