Johannes Comenius = Jan Amos Komenský(1592-1670)(his original name) and also called "teacher of the nationes" is a czech guy who formed a progressive new teaching method called "learning by playing" wrote many filosphical, pedagogical and teological books. Have been droven out from czech lands becouse his belief...

and right spelling of that is "Orbis pictus"

Very sorry.

I put 'U' instead of 'I' in a spelling error!
I actually meant to put the full title to the German language version printed in Amsterdam in 1658 that was later to become the English translation of Latin primer called 'Orbis Sensualium Pictus' in 1659.

Of course no slight was intended. However, many educated people of the time would have known a scholar by his latinised name Johannes Amos Comenius, and thanks to his works, many still do.

At least that the name on his book, that he had printed, so I guess he had no problem with it - did he?[/img]

no problem, I just wanted to add some info on this guy:)

Well, about half of his work is written in Latin, so I guess he definetly had no problem with it.
