WTB Archer's/Open Sallet

Postby SirUlf » Mon Aug 20, 2012 1:18 pm

Just seeing if anyone has one kicking around they'd like to see go to a good home. Looking for a decent archer's/open faced sallet, ideally something akin to this: http://www.the-larp-store.com/p-3128-la ... c-559.aspx, but in steel rather than plastic obviously.

As always depends on how much you want to spend! Check out 2 J's for a cheap open faced sallet at around £75, or maybe try Mark at Ravencrest.

Thanks. 2J's? I found this one: http://www.history-revisited.com/detail ... ,-medieval. Does that look OK as far as the experts are concerned? Would one wear an arming cap underneath one of these?

Hi Nik,
Are you planning on going to Herstmonceux? Might be worth going along and seeing what the traders have on offer there, and then you can try them for fit.

My only query with that sallet is the dip either side of the ridge, I would wonder where that was referenced from as it looks rather odd and less deflecting than it should be, the side profile is nice though.

Ah, thanks. The TwoJ's one looks quite like it and very nice. Will have a look around Herstmonceux. Main thing will be to get clothes and other small bits. Just hoping the weather will hold...

In slight defense of the 2Js lid, although its indian made Ive seen many many 'versions' of it, ie painted, lettered, blued, shiney etc, so it must be doing something right!!
