Hmmm,

not objecting to traders per see, but I think it might be wiser to keep this resource limited to businesses outside the re-enactment world.

This should be for material sources external to the re-enactment world, that aren't known widely. otherwise it will end up as just an advertising spot for everybody.

( Nothing personal to any posters, but internal traders have other means of reaching people)

With mod head on, just a note about sc's post:

First, there's nothing wrong with posting that link here.
It's a link to a supplier of goods which are extremely useful to those of us who make costume.

That the supplier is involved in the re-enactment circuit is not the issue.

Any supplier is relevant to this thread, if they can supply notions, equipment and materials that are of use in costuming - even more so if they can supply relatively hard to find items (as is the case with the link sc posted).

Just because some of us know where to look, and how to find the suppliers within the world of re-enactment, it doesn't follow that everyone using this site or this thread does.

Therefore, post away people!!!

Metropolitan leather in Northampton (phone only,no shopping website, but good quality vegtans)

Keith Lyons (must be used to the calls these days)

If your in London, Batchelors (9-10 Culford Mews off Ballspond Road) near hackney N1. They have a shop there you can pick your leather out, and cheerfully grumpy staff from dealing with 'designers'

Bowstock for tools, but might carry some leather.

Joseph Dixons if you want the best tools and can afford it.

Kingsmere craft (internet site) for online resources, guides and leather links.

Abbey Saddlery (pricey but good quality leather and tools)

Not sure if Maughn's in liverpool are still about these days.
