I believe that it was found some years ago. It is now news because it has been carbon-dated to the late 15th century.

However, the Roman lady bull-jumpers wore very similar outfits and I am not surprised. It seems a very logical set of underwear to me.

There was discussion some years ago (here) of C14th lambskin 'bodywarmers' worn under the kirtle, which would have coincidentally provided some shape and support.

Also the discussion on sanitary precautions - would the online bikini bottoms have taken the place of the T-bandaging to hold pads in place? Is it just me, or does the damaged front section look like it is of multi-layer construction, begging the obvious question - is this an item for daily or monthly wear?
Is it 'coz I is middewl clarse, aih?
