A friend is organising this and it is actually off season. It'll be a jolly good evening as a lot of thought has gone into it. Only ball I have been to on the dance circuit that's doing a proper black tie drinks reception (no, I want to mingle a bit before cavorting, please) and only the second one that has considered that leaping around again after two full courses isn't such a good idea. It's in a period house and the right size gathering - only 42 - with en suite rooms on site.
