Don't know about fish & meat but there is beer

Conwys Brewery

Honey Fayre / Cwrw Mel 4.5%

A deliciously refreshing golden ale made with Welsh Honey. It is dry in flavour with the sweetness of the honey emerging in the aroma leading to a pleasing bitter finish.

Gold “n” Delicious/Clogwyn Gold. 3.6%

A light quaffable golden ale with plenty of hop aroma and a long bitter finish. A very tasty beer for its strength.

Brentwood Brewery

Roy Rogers (trigger just smiles) 3.9%

Light brown session bitter, very smooth and easy drinking after a hard days work,

Summer Virgin 4.5%

A light golden coloured refreshing ale brewed using 100% pale malt, with a blend of hops to give slight bitterness as well as a good hoppy, lightly citrus aroma and flavour.

Cottage Brewery

Hot Dog

Sticky middle Wicket

Summer Gold
Reclining Budda, stunt double

I've had a problem with FileZilla not overwriting files when I've asked it to. Try re-naming the file, then check that you can't access it anymore. Then copy the new page over and check that you can access that one. Then you can delete the old copy, safe in the knowledge that you've got the new version there.

Best wishes.

E-mail from Maureen of Southern Paranormal, who has kindly agreed single-handedly to try and add a little "something" to the festival, for re-enactors only.

"Hi David,

I should be at Bodelwyddan by mid-afternoon hopefully, depending on traffic etc, so if any re-enactors who want to come join in the fun they should come to my tent anytime Friday or Saturday and let me know. I shouldn’t be too difficult to find hopeful – it’s bright red as you may (or not) recall.

In order for everyone to have time to eat before coming along I suggest a start time of about 9pm. My friend and I will have had time to do so by then and I’ll have had time to get everything ready.

Programme for the evening roughly as follows (but subject to change, depending on weather).

9pm Gather at Beth’s Beaderie for a few ghostly tales. (i.e. some scary stuff from some of the Southern Paranormal investigations over the last few years)

10pm Short chat about how the rest of the evening is going to work, what people need to know about how it’s all done properly, followed up by a séance and/or glass divination session. (all proper protections will be used, as we always do on investigations).

11pm Head to a pre-arranged location for a vigil. Depending on numbers this will be either as one group, or be split into two groups.

Midnight – start winding things up – unless of course it’s all getting too interesting, in which case we can carry on for an hour or so – but I do want to get some sleep….I can’t manage without it even if others can…

It’s surprising how tiring a paranormal investigation can be – it’s not like sitting around the fire chatting till three in the morning, and passing round the mead - - we want everyone who comes along to try and sense the world of Spirit rather than spirits….. and it can take a considerable amount of concentration to do that….and spirits or alcohol of any sort just don’t help…

Hope that suits,

Maureen"

Best wishes

Bodelwyddan paranormal investigation

Postby Maureen » Mon Jul 27, 2009 1:41 pm

If anyone wants to make sure of a place round the fire(not that I plan on turning anyone away), apart from coming to find me at Bodelwyddan you can always let me know through this forum, or pm me.... that would give me some indication of the amount of interest and give me some guide as to what equipment to bring with me.

Hi Everyone,

I have just sent out the Warning Orders & Battle Plan to all the email addresses, for the groups who have indicated they were coming

My apologies if I have missed you out.
Format was in .doc and .pdf.
However, if you have any difficulty printing the Battle Plan, please download the ppt version from
http://www.andysherriff.co.uk/Bodelwydd ... 202009.ppt

Alternatively, email me on marcherfreemen (at) btconnect (dot) com for a personalised reply

The warning Orders are at

All the best, Andy.[

Huge thanks for that, Andy, it is much appreciated and looks like it'll be an interesting battle for both those watching and those taking part.

If anyone is interested in"hamming it up" we have an expert make-up artist atthe show who is adept at creating very gory and realistic wounds (which you might then have concealed under a great helm) for startling and shocking the crowd as you stagger along the ropes before dying.

Just an idea

Volunteer Group Required!

Who would like to put on a display of "Arming The Knight" Saturday afternoon around 3.30pm, ideally about 45 minutes or so?

Or anything else which you'd like to suggest?

That's quite a long time to arm a knight.

Presumably you're also looking at getting people to try bits on and stuff as part of the dispaly.

I was basing the time slot on what the OFK wanted last year, when they had two knights, one togged up who they undressed bit by bit whilst talking through the various and handing itens around the crowd line, alternating with dressing a knight and using him as a car crash dummy (their phrase not mine!) to show how the padding etc. helped withstand blows from a variety of weapons.

Naturally Despencer was doing the whacking and the talking, and claimed it was hard work.

I'll gladly set up and load the cannon. As you probably know, although training and liscences are needed to load it, anyone can fire it and get the blame for the hangover damage.

If you want to award the privalage of opening the show by firing the cannon to anyone, let me know.

Thanks Dave, that'll be great. As he's hugely responsible for me staging this event in the first place, and also does so much to help me "locally" I'd like to nominate Andy Sherriff to do the honours on both days.

Andy,

According to their website the Company of St. Jude will also be with us, although I'm having some trouble with getting emails through to them.

And here's a first, Gaunt's Retinue want to be put on the list for 2010!

I'm off to Bodelwyddan tomorrow morning to start setting things up.

So PM's and e-mails will not reach me after today.

Andy Sherriff (Type 16) is "local" and can deal with any problems that you might have - he's probably more rightly the organiser of the entire re-enactment side of things in any case!

After variously changing it's mind www.metcheck.com is now declaring Bodelwyddan LL18 5YA to be a completely dry zone between tomorrow and next Monday.

Of course, they don't know about Laurie's Beer Tent.

And they might change their minds, or be as useless as the Met Office, but we can hope.

Sunblock AND wellies, then

Let's hope that the weather holds.

David's asked that Knights In Battle organise a tournament at the event, based on our regular shows. As we're late finding out about it, we're a bit thin on the ground for it, so we've decided to ask for volunteers from other groups to make up the numbers. Idealy we would like 2-4 additional fighters of a high level of skill from other groups to join us in putting on this combat display.

Our combat style is similar to the FAST system (aka 5's) used by the EMA, and does use head-blows and thrusts. We're also likley to improvise around this, with kicks, unusual blows, and other 'stunts' that you won't normally see on the battle field. Because of this, we'll require volunteers to undergo a short safty test to re-assure us that they aren't going to come to harm, or hurt any of us. We're particularly keen to get any ex members of KIBS involved, as they will know the comabt styles that we're using.

We could also do with a marshal to 'preside' over the event (we have a commentator) and at least 1 aditional squire to help get the fighters prepared (passing them weapons, adjusting armour, providing drinks, etc).

If you're interested in helping out, please PM me with your details and any questions.

Many thanks and see you all there.

Likewise if anyone wants to help out with a black powder display, then give me a shout.

Previous experience with black powder / guns is not essential, although convincing me that you aren't a total muppet is.

I'm going to do 'blackpowder through the ages' and field guns from the tannenberg gun (14thC) possibly up to a 1851 revolver.
