Edwardian brolly conservation

I bought Suzie an original Edwardian brolly, its in great nick but we opened it and the fabric is okeyish but there are a couple of lines on the fabric where it has lain against the struts and is worn very thin, is there anything that can be done ? to strengthen the material or something or should it just be carried but never opened ?

Apart from totally replacing the canopy there's not much to be done. I'd say just keep it folded. If she wants one to use, there are some excellent repros on ebay.
