Every year I hear summat. Every year it fails to happen. Last one I heard was Alnwick Council wanting to do an anniversary celebration.

What are the main differences (if any) in clothing and equipment for an English soldier in 1513 from the late War of the Roses?

At lower levels not much to be obvious- simple hose and doublets pointed together etc.

At a mid to higher level you start to get the more "Henrician" look with slashed and puffed knees and sleeves, waffenfrocks and plastron fronted doublets (the ones that open to the side) and also scooped necks and the like with exaggerated codpieces.

"The Tudor Tailor" gives a good overview.

Equipment wise you have-
bellows faced sallets coming in (gorgeous when done well) along with the more "Maximillian" styles of armour with fluting etc

bases (cloth skirts) worn with harness

quivers worn at the hip by archers

halberds come in from the continent (though bills stick around in certain roles in the UK for another long while)

the import of horses and troops for differing roles to fill in the blanks that cannot be supplied by indigenous troops and breeds.

Cannon get bigger and handgonnes more apparent.

Swords develop finger loops and basket hilts.
