Re-enactors wanted for School Christmas Fair Milton Keynes

Postby WebberHistory » Sun Jun 24, 2012 12:58 pm

Hi All

Apologies if I make mistakes here, this is my first time asking for participation in a fair, my previous experience as a history teacher is in inviting re-enactors to speak to school groups.

At my school in Milton Keynes we are in the early stages of arranging a Christmas Fair for the 1st December 2012. The fair will be a historical Christmas Fair with two strands, re-enactors who can fit into the Christmas season theme (anything from Medieval to World War Two) and a craft and Christmas food fair. The whole event will be run for charity. We also intend to get our pupils who range from 3-18 working on costumes depending on the periods we confirm for the event.

The website of my School is here http://www.webberindependentschool.com/home.php

We have a sportshall and a field approximately 110 metres by 95 metres. The event will only be on that day and I have been informed by our site manager that we do not have insurance for overnight stays on our field.

There will be more detail as I see what is possible and I will be very grateful for whatever advice or help you can.

Best wishes

Justin

We are based in MK and Edna has various Wartime Christmas offerings. See http://www.homefrontfriends.org.uk/page13.html.

December 2012 is fairly booked up as Wartime Christmas is one of Edna's made activities but it is worth getting in touch with her. Her contact details are here http://www.homefrontfriends.org.uk/HFF-admin/index.html

Check out our website "The Hungerford Household". We have done Chistmas events before including a visit by a period St Nicholas. Do you have a budget for the event?

And don't forget to browse http://www.classhistory.co.uk - the place for finding reenactors who visit schools. If you click on the map near Milton Keynes you'll find all your local ones.
