Medieval gown Midwinterfair

Postby Vrouwe Morrigan » Sun Nov 20, 2011 4:49 pm

This is my outfit to the Midwinterfair of The Archeon in the Netherlands( 10-11 dec). I made a gown based on a painting from Rogier van der Weyden ( Magdalene reading).
The kirtle is a linen and cotton fabric, the gown is wool with a fake lambsfur. The only thing I have to change is the belt, in the picture she wears a long black belt. I'm still working on that.

Excellent work - I particularly like the piecing on the gown skirt. :D

The belt is actually dark blue/black, and I believe it is tablet woven. Your outfit so far looks brilliant - congratulations.

I had to, because the fabric was not width enough. I know its period appropriate. I think the width of the skirt is about 6 or 7 metres. It takes a hell of a time to do the seams.
By the way its all hand sewn.
