Working in an 18th century classical temple which was used as a formal dining room (complete with kitchens to serve hot food!!) has left me wondering...what kind of food would they have eaten??! Now, I might be in the minority here but I have always envisioned 18th century cuisine to be masses of courses with huge subtleties...yet would this have been the case in a banqueting house?? The family who owned it, already had a sufficient dining room to house great feasts (which they no doubt gave!) but i can't help wondering what they would have served to guests in a more informal setting. Does anybody have any ideas??
